James E. Vessel was born in Gideon, Mo. on April 24, 1926. After graduating from high school, he joined the U. S.Army where he spent most of his time in Germany during WWll at the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from the war, James went to live in Michigan where he met his wife, Chloe, and married her in 1950. He worked for Hoover Universal as plant superintendent for 36 years and retired in 1982. James and Chloe have two children, Shelia Hinds, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Gregory Vessel, of Adrian, Mich.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hinds and John Anthony Hinds, of Palm Coast, Fla. He has four sisters and two brothers, all of St. Charles, Mo. Visitation for Mr. Vessel will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with service to follow in the chapel at Colbert Memorial Chapel in Tuscumbia, Ala. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Hamilton, Ala. Brother Tommy James and Brother Henry Melton will be officiating.
James was a member of the Assembly of God and later attended Faith Church. He enjoyed all of the senior trips and get togethers. He also loved Atlanta Braves baseball games and fishing on the Tennessee River. James loved everybody and was truly a kind man.
