James E. “Squirrel” Lewis, age 75, of Empire, passed away at his residence December 7, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer Anita Lewis; daughter, Angela Nicole Lewis; parents, James Euel Lewis and Ruth Lewis; brother, Bruce Lewis and sister Marlene Lewis. James is survived by his son, James Earl Lewis (Angela), granddaughters, Abbie Lewis and Emma Lewis; sister Phyllis Lewis Sims as well as several nieces and nephews. James, lovingly known as “Squirrel”, was taken from his family far too soon. He enjoyed fishing on the Warrior River, NASCAR and Alabama Football. He left his grandchildren memories of playing chase in the yard and the gift of his two beloved female dogs, Molly and Bob. A chapel service will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2pm. The family will receive guests for one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Empire Memorial Cemetery.
