Coach James Charles “Blackie” Lollar age 82, of Jasper, AL passed away peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Ridgeview Health Services in Jasper. He was born on August 22,1942 in Jasper, AL to the late Henry C. and Flora Lollar.
Coach Lollar loved athletics and Scouting, whether it was coaching football or other sports, watching his son or grandkids play sports or going on Scouting camping trips. He firmly believed that Scouting provided values and leadership and that athletics helped with team building and learning not to quit when times get hard.
Blackie graduated from Walker County High School in 1960 and then attended Walker College before graduating from UAB with a Master’s in Education in 1976. Professionally, Coach Lollar taught school at Jasper Junior High and Walker High School from 1971-2000.
Blackie was preceded in death by his Parents-Henry and Flora; Brother-Gary Lollar.
He is survived by his Wife of 58 years-Marian Dunn Lollar; Son-Zac Lollar and wife Mary Faas; and Grandchildren-Charlie, James Bryant and Annalee Lollar and Ashton Jones.
A celebration of Coach’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2025, at Woodland Trace Church of Christ in Jasper, AL. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Mountain District of the Black Warrior Council, Boy Scouts of America (PO Drawer 3088, Tuscaloosa, AL 35403) or Jasper High School Athletics (1501 Viking Drive, Jasper, AL 35501).
