James Abraham “Abie” Houston, of Lexington, Tennessee, was born on June 10, 1943, and passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 83.
Abie was a retired electrician and plumber who owned and operated Houston’s Wiring and Plumbing, where he dedicated many years to serving his community with hard work, honesty, and craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Houston; his son, Keith Houston; his parents, Abraham Houston and Ona Mae Houston; his stepfather, Autry Houston; and his brother, Johnny Houston.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Davidson; his granddaughters, Holly Davidson and Kelley Jones Buttrey (Brandon); his three great-grandsons, Zachary Buttrey (Erin), Joshua Buttrey, and Kaden Buttrey; his sister, Charlotte Paulk (John); and his nephew, Christopher Houston (Cindy), the son of his late brother, Johnny Houston.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2026 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in New Hope Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 10 AM – 2 PM.
