Jakie D. Gieske, age 85, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Wednesday, September 03, 2025, at Alive Hospice Residence in Murfreesboro, TN. He was a native of Loretto, TN, a 1958 graduate from Loretto High School, and retired from Franks Vending Service. Mr. Gieske was a former independent mail truck driver and a former school bus driver. He was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Gieske served his country honorably in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Brown Gieske; his wife, Mary Lou Townsend Gieske; one sister, Frances Gieske Glover; and two brothers, Joe Gieske and Charles Frank Gieske.
He is survived by two sons, Jay D. Gieske (Felicia) of Murfreesboro, TN and Jo Jo Gieske (Vangie) of Lawrenceburg, TN; four grandchildren, Jake D. Gieske (Becca) of Lakeland, TN, Lauran S. Gieske of Knoxville, TN; Jerren R. Gieske of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Addisten B. Gieske of Lawrenceburg, TN; two sisters, Joanie Hill of Leoma, TN and Ruth Russ of Florence, AL. Those serving as pallbearers are Jake Gieske, Jerren Gieske, Isaac Tucker, Chuck Gieske, Jackie Kelly, Rick Thompson, Alex Haddix, and Mike Glover.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, September 06, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 06, 2025, with Reggie Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Alive Hospice.
