Jackson Morris Pugh – Obituary

Funeral service for Jackson Morris Pugh, age 81, of Decatur, will be Saturday, July 27, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.    Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Pugh, who died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born February 24, 1932, in Winston County, to Arthur Taylor Pugh and Lula Horton Pugh.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Martha Crumpton Pugh; brothers Burvin and A.L. Pugh, and his twin brother, James Norris Pugh; and sisters Edith Carson and Lola King.  Mr. Pugh served in the U. S. Air Force and then retired from Decatur General Hospital following 33 years of service.  He was a member of Central Park  Baptist Church, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by four daughters, Andrea Steed (Pat) of Brentwood, TN, Angela Craig (Brent) of Hartselle, Amy Whitten (Dave) of Priceville, and Allison Garner (Stuart) of Vestavia; two sisters, Louise Barton (Spike) of Brewton, and Ola Stone Wakefield of Jasper; and nine grandchildren, Riley and Parker Steed, Anna and Emily Craig, Rachael and John Whitten, and Ava, Jackson, and Olivia Garner.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Steed, Brent Craig, Dave Whitten, Stuart Garner, Riley Steed, Parker Steed, and John Whitten.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Terrace for their loving care; to the wonderful, compassionate nursing staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital and Hospice of the Valley; and a special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Johnson for his excellent medical care through the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.
