Mr. Jackie Drake, Jr. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jackie Drake Jr., who peacefully departed this life on December 10, 2024, at the age of 69. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, on January 24, 1955, Jackie was the cherished first child of Jackie Drake Sr. and his stepfather Edward Andrew Miller, and Gracie Ann Miller. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Cathy Miller Robinson and his stepfather. From a young age, he developed a profound love for God. Jackie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became an active member of the First Missionary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the late Dr. Julius R. Scruggs, he participated in the church choir, where his passion for music and faith flourished.

Jackie’s life was marked by love and devotion to his family. He married Linda Horton on March 25, 1974, a union that lasted for an incredible 51 years and he loved her dearly. Together they raised two beautiful children, instilling in them the values of love, keeping God first, and that they could write their own ticket and have it all. Jackie was a devoted husband and father who took great joy in   planning family vacations; he believed in providing his loved ones with experiences that would enrich their lives and broaden their    horizons. Jackie attended Lee High School where he had fun as a baseball player and graduated in 1973. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army within the military division for several years, forming many lifelong friendships during this time that he cherished deeply.

After his military service, Jackie pursued further education at J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College. There he earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology and Engineering, equipping himself with skills that would serve him well throughout his career. Jackie’s professional journey began at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where he dedicated several years of service. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Jackie’s Brick Masonry, where he excelled as a master contractor and brick mason. His craftsmanship is evident in many structures throughout the community that continue to stand as a testament to his skill and dedication. Later in his career, Jackie joined Chrysler as a technician, where he contributed significantly until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Jackie was deeply involved in his community. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge Huntsville Chapter and actively participated in the United Auto Workers (UAW). In addition to these affiliations, he served as vice president of the Home Builders Association of Huntsville Madison County during the 1990s, showcasing his commitment and building skills. In addition to his spiritual commitments, Jackie had a deep passion for music. He mentored many aspiring artists, including his son and late sister, sharing his knowledge and expertise, he used his sound engineering, and advised those who sought to   follow their musical dreams. His contributions to music extended beyond mentorship; he played an integral role in shaping the artistic journeys of numerous individuals within his community.

Jackie cherished spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, creating lasting memories that would be treasured for generations. His relationship with his daughter and son was particularly special and he often provided them with invaluable entrepreneurial advice that helped shape their career path.

Throughout his life, Jackie was known for his warm spirit and generous heart. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and unwavering support for those around him. His legacy will live on through the memories shared by friends and family who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jackie is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Linda Drake. Together they built a life filled with love and joy. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Grace Ann Miller. Jackie took great pride in being a father to his two wonderful children: Latricia Drake of Georgia and Alabama and DeAndre Drake (Andreana) of Huntsville. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Evan Drake, Verick Jackie Wade, Jace Drake, and Lenox Drake; who brought immense joy to his life.
