Jack Allen Harbin, aged 82, of Athens, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 12th, 2025. Born on November 24th, 1942, in Alabama, Jack was the son of Walter Harbin and Ada Pearl Lauderdale Harbin.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Janie Harbin, and his son, Jackie Harbin. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Harbin, as well as two siblings, brother Buddy Harbin (Sue) and sister Joan Clark (Thomas). Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jody Alan Harbin, and several siblings.
The Harbin family will receive friends and family for visitation on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:45pm at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service, officiated by Donald Terry, will follow at 2:00pm. Jack will be laid to rest at New Hope Primitive Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Cruise Lewter, Levi McCurry, Jason Harbin, Patrick Harbin, Doug McCafferty, and Danny McCafferty.
Jack Allen Harbin was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for gardening and took great pride in working on his old John Deere tractors. His love for these humble pursuits was a testament to his appreciation for life’s small yet meaningful moments. Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories.
