J.T. Holland – Obituary

J.T. Holland, 85, went to his eternal heavenly home on August 16, 2012. Born January 22, 1927, he was the fifth child of Delton and Arie Holland of Red Bay, Al. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was an electrician and veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a loving husband, father and pop-paw and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Bro. Matthew Haney and Bro. Billy Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys Faye Scott Holland; one son – Ronnie Holland (Gena); one daughter – Sherry Boyd (Randy); one brother – Thurston Holland; two sisters – Cutaw Manasco and Brenda Humphres; three grandchildren – Tara Enlow (Ryan), Tristan Holland and Wesley Holland (Marisa); two great-grandchildren – Taryn Boyd and Ian Enlow and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred Holland, F.V. Holland and R.B. Holland, three sisters, Mildred Caudle, Lorine Singleton and Geneva Griffus and one grandson, Drew Boyd.

At his request, pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tristan and Wesley Holland, Ryan Enlow, whom he considered his own grandson and graciously standing in for the late Drew Boyd, will be his nephew, Ken Holland.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. and he will lie in state 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
