J. Hammond Martin

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Chapel in Gadsden for Mr. J. Hammond Martin, 93, of Glencoe, who died Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Tommy Earwood will officiate. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Park. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Martin was born in Cullman County on January 15, 1920. He married Jewel Stewart Martin from Hulaco in Cullman County in 1941. He graduated from David Lipscomb University, was a veteran and served during World War II. He was a member of the Dwight Masonic Lodge No. 550 F&AM and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Albert Martin and Laura Earwood Martin; grandson, Chris Martin; and sister, Elna Pardue.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel Stewart Martin; sons, Jay H. Martin (Libby), of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., David S. Martin (Pat), of Glencoe and George A. Martin (Cindy) of Heflin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Martin, Jason Martin, Chad Reavis, Justin Martin, Todd Martin and Paul Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be all co-workers with Liberty National in the Decatur and Gadsden Districts.
