J.E. “Eddie” Griffith, Jr., age 88, of Florence, Alabama, died, February 12, 2017. The visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 15th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. Kenny Windsor and Chris Montgomery will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife of 65 years, Duffie Griffith.
Mr. Griffith graduated from the University of Tennessee. He taught Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science at Central High School. He was also an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach.
He taught Sunday School at Pleasant Hill for 15 years.
He was a Sargent First Class in the U.S. Army for 6 years and served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his children; Jenny (Chuck) Lawler, Cherie Broadfoot, Billy (Jeanne) Griffith, Jeannie (Ray) Creekmore, Andy (Sherry) Griffith, Missy Cupp, and Becky (Darrell) Fuller; sister Ann (John) Curtis, and a host of grand children and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Lawler, Tracy Rhodes, Karson Cupp, Drake Fuller, Devin Downing, and Dan Downing.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Wednesday Nights Men’s Group.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pleasant Hill Children’s Center Fund.
