J. Dennis BrownJ. Dennis Brown, 68, made his last curtain call Saturday, August 22nd, after a three-year battle with cancer.

Dennis was born in Millington, Tennessee. He was a graduate of S.R. Butler High School and received a B.S. degree in theater from Florence State University.

Dennis was employed at Grissom High School from 1978 until 2020. He started as a substitute teacher and later became the auditorium supervisor. He was the lighting designer and technician for Fine Arts and was affectionately known as “Grissom’s Light god”. During this time, he was also involved in The Huntsville Little Theater. Dennis was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. His hobbies included photography, puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. He also really liked gardening and growing tomatoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents. David Monroe Brown and Mary Jeannine Edwards Brown. Dennis is survived by his brother, David W. Brown and his wife, Laura, an aunt, uncles, and many cousins.

Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27th, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. with services to follow. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Nettleton, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Free 2 Teach or Grissom High School Theatre.
