J. D. Childers, 99, of New Hope, passed away Saturday. He was a WWII veteran, a farmer, a great daddy, a wonderful grandfather, a best friend, and he loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by wife, Martha “Dolly” Parrish Childers; son, Jerry “Buck” Childers; infant son, J. D. Childers, Jr.; granddaughter, Delda Manley; and parents, John and Bittie Childers.
Surviving are daughter, Patsy Childers; daughter, Doris (Herman) Parsons; son, Leonard (Linda) Childers; son, Obie (Deborah) Childers; and five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Len Childers, Ryan Childers, Obie Childers, Jay Childers, Keith Manley, and Dane Holman.
Visitation will be Monday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home, Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Bro. Harold Kelly officiating.
Interment will be in Hayden Cemetery.
