J. B. Whitt, 92 of Toney, Alabama died on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the home of his daughter.
Born Thursday, March 16, 1922 in Toney, Alabama, he was the son of the late Robert “Bob” Whitt and the late Ruth George Whitt. He was a lifelong resident of the Toney area. He enjoyed farming and attending his grandchildren’s events. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Maggie Bradley, Nora Bannard, Dora Whitt and Dorothy Lusk.
Surviving are his wife of 70+ years: Ruth E. Whitt of Toney, AL, daughter Ann W. Bridges of Madison, AL,son, Joe Bob (Tammy) Whitt of Madison, AL, sisters, June Boggs of Ardmore, TN and Robbie Spinelli of Huntsville, AL, grandchildren: Allison (Chris) Bowden, Todd (Morgan) Whitt, Amber Whitt, and Casey Whitt, and great-grandchildren: Lee Bowden and Addyson Grace Whitt.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Rev. Mac McCutcheon officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice Family Care in Memory of Leslie Vallely or to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery or building funds.
