Imogene Martin Clayton, 83, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, passed away Monday May 10th 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Clayton, great grandson, Lucas Clayton, father, Homer Martin, and Mother Donnie Martin.
Survived by son DeWayne Clayton (Sherry), daughter Wynema Coffey (Russ), grandsons Matthew Clayton (Meaghann), Chris Clayton (Rachel), Joshua Coffey (Shari), Tyler Coffey and great-grandchildren Anna Clayton, Ben Clayton, Andrew Clayton, Emery Clayton, Elijah Clayton, Graeme Coffey and Kensi Coffey.
Imogene was active in church her whole life. She was a charter member of New Salem Baptist Church and served on the Benevolence Committee where she enjoyed offering comfort and support to families. While at Cave Springs Baptist Church she and Wayne were very active in youth and young adult programs and stayed close to many of those youth throughout her life.
She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved helping others and never met a stranger. She always had a smile and friendly word when you met her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She and Wayne spent many Saturdays traveling between parks to see all 4 grandsons play sports.
Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Salem Baptist Church, Friday at 2:00 pm with Bro. Mike Shaneyfelt officiating. Pallbearers will be Dan Beddingfield, Greg Vinyard, Jim Wilbourn, Shelby Crawford, Don Irwin and Jason Hall.
Interment will be in the Moon Cemetery.
