Ida Jo Ozburn Daughtry, 92, of Huntsville, passed away April 23, 2026. Ida Jo was born December 18, 1933, in Riverdale, GA. She was raised attending Riverdale Presbyterian Church. Ida Jo attended Jonesboro High School where she was a cheerleader and voted ‘Best Dressed’ class favorite.

In 1954, Ida Jo graduated from The Alabama Polytechnic Institute. That November she married James ‘Jimmy’ H. Daughtry and was married for 70 years. They lived at Ft. Benning, GA; Alexandria, VA, and Mobile prior to moving to Huntsville in 1962.

Ida Jo was active at First Presbyterian Church in Women’s Circle and weekly attended both Sunday School and the Service of Worship. An avid gardener, Ida Jo loved wildflowers and azaleas, among other plants. She made a beautiful, comfortable home, working tirelessly to serve a loving husband and two children. She loved playing bridge with her lady friends and frequently hosted the event. She was a n artist, a seamstress and quilter; multi-talented and never sitting still. Late in life, she was blessed with 3 grandchildren, all of which are grown. Ida Jo was a smart, gifted, hardworking wife and mother to her family, her Lord Jesus and her church and friends. She ran her race well! All who knew and loved her will suffer loss.

Survivors include son, Jim Daughtry, Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Meg Daughtry Mordecai (Steve); and grandchildren, Anna Daughtry, Peterson Daughtry (Helena), and Joseph Daughtry (Lydia).

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Daughtry, Jr. officiating.  There will be a graveside service immediately following the funeral service and all are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ida Jo’s memory may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children in Talladega.
