NORTH ALABAMA-According to information from local authorities U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are currently active across four North Alabama counties this week.

Sheriff notifications indicate targeted ICE operations taking place across four regional counties simultaneously. On October 20, 2026, a high-profile ICE enforcement stop occurred in Russellville resulting in multiple residents being taken into custody, according to a reliable news source.

The Russellville City School system released an official statement assuring families that campuses remain safe. School officials emphasized that classes and bus routes are continuing normally and that no ICE agents are permitted on school grounds.

This follows recent enforcement spikes in neighboring areas, including Madison County operations and several detentions within local Haitian communities due to shifting federal immigration policies.

Nearly 60 Alabama law enforcement agencies—including several in North Alabama like Colbert County, Franklin County, and Lawrence County—have signed formal partnerships with ICE.  These agreements authorize local jailers and sheriff’s deputies to act as extensions of federal immigration enforcement by identifying, detaining, and processing individuals with pending immigration violations.
