HUNTSVILLE-STAC 2016 UPDATE from the Huntsville Police Department as they near the half way in ridding North Alabama Of drugs:
“The Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) is funded through the Gulf Coast HIDTA under the local leadership of the Huntsville Police Department. The STAC Unit is comprised of law enforcement agents from the Huntsville Police Department, Decatur Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Madison County District Attorney’s Office. The Unit works closely with local law enforcement agencies and federal partners to combat illegal drug activity in the Madison-Morgan County area. Also, the Unit works closely with several federal law enforcement agencies (FBI, DEA, ATF, US Postal Service) to disrupt or dismantle those drug organizations with local, state, national and international connections, with the overall goal of reducing the amount of drugs in our area.
In attempting to achieve that goal, the amount of ice seized in 2016 is up 400% compared to the amount seized at this time in 2015. Within the past several weeks, Agents have seized approximately 3.3 Kilos of ice, with a street value of approximately $280,448.00. As a result of these seizures, Agents have made dozens of arrests, specifically related to 
methamphetamine offenses.
Nearing the halfway point for 2016, the STAC team has seized a significant amount of drugs throughout Madison and Morgan County to include the following:
Cocaine – Over 1,525 grams (over1.5 kilos) – Estimated Street Value – $130,000.00
Marijuana – Over 30,375 grams (over 30 kilos) – Estimated Street Value – $460,000.00
Heroin – Over 400 grams – Estimated Street value – $140,000.00
Prescription Drugs – Over 4,400 doses – Estimated Street Value – $83,000.00
Methamphetamine – Over 100 grams – Estimated Street value – $11,000.00
Methamphetamine ‘Ice” – Over 5,800 grams (5.8 kilos) – Estimated Street Value – $725,000.00
STAC agents have also seized other various dangerous drugs to include: LSD, MDMA, Mushrooms, Oxycodone powder, Codeine liquid, Hydrocodone liquid, and Meth oil.
So far in 2016, STAC Agents have seized 50 firearms, over $140,000 in cash, and have made over 150 arrests.”
