KILLEN-Chief Deputy Richey from The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the standoff situation at 2:45 P.M.

Lauderdale County Deputies along with the U.S. Marshall were attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect who was located at the Super 8 Motel off of Highway 72 in Killen.  The suspect is from Florida and Federal Marshalls were trying to serve the warrant on him early this morning when the suspect fired on them and proceeded to barricade himself and possible one other person in a room at the motel.

An APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department along with the Huntsville Police Department SWAT team have arrived on site to give much-needed relief to the Law Enforcement who have been on scene since early this morning.   The APC was taken into the parking lot and parked near the fugitive’s  motel room.

According to Richey the Lee County Florida Sheriff’s Office has said that the fugitive should be considered extremely dangerous.unnamed

There is at least one person with the fugitive and according to authorities there could be as many as five other people as well.  It is not known at this time if the people with the fugitive or hostages and being held against their will or if they are willing confederates.

Chief Deputy Richey said additional charges of Attempted Murder have been lived against the still unnamed fugitive from Lee County Florida.

A special Note:  Chief Deputy Richey said the children who are riding school buses home from school and live near or behind the Super 8 Motel will be taken to the Killen Church of Christ where they will be cared for until their parents arrive to pick them up.
