Hubert Vernon Johnson, 87, of Decatur, passed away on Dec. 18, 2017. Visitation will be at Roselawn Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Dr. Ben Hayes is officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Lucy Self Johnson; sister, Irene Johnson Reyer; and brother, W. C. Johnson.
He is survived by his former wife and special friend, Mary Sue Johnson; sons, Randy Dover, Doug Dover, and Jeff Dover; five nieces, two nephews, five grandkids, and two great-grandkids.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Vandiver, Gary Johnson, Terry Johnson, Randy Dover, Doug Dover, and Jeff Dover. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Hamlin, Roy Mitchell, and Al Siverling.
Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
