Henrisue Russum Thompson, 90, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of the University of Alabama College of Business. Over the course of her professional life, she was an independent business owner in addition to working with her husband, Alton, for many years as the Office Manager of his CPA practice in Huntsville. They shared a lifelong passion for Alabama Football, attending games every Fall, for over four decades. In 1989, Mrs. Thompson was the last survivor identified after the November 15th tornado that devastated Airport Road in Huntsville. She sustained massive injuries, remaining in a body cast for over a year. She was a four-time cancer survivor and will always be remembered by her friends as a tenacious and spirited person who refused to give up.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. W. and Virginia Russum of Oneonta, and by her beloved husband, Alton F. Thompson, Jr.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
