Funeral service for Howard Lucius Taylor age 76 of Decatur will be Wednesday, April 26, 2022 at 11:00am at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ralph Henderson, Reverend John Chapman and Brother Steve Barber officiating with burial with full Military Honors at Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor, who was born December 2, 1946 in Morgan County to Oscar Lafayette Taylor and Maggie Lou Hopper Taylor, died on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Howard retired from the 3M Company in Decatur. However, Howard’s passion was his 32 year Military Career. He served in the United States Air Force, the United States Marine Corp and the United States Army National Guard. He served 3 tours in Vietnam, served in Iraq and was a highly decorated Patriot. He always supported anything Military and especially loved participating in the Veterans Day parades. He was instrumental in starting the “B-57 Bummers” for a group of his Military comrades.
Howard loved to garden and spend time at his cabin on the farm. He loved his family and most especially, his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan and loved attending their events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James L. Taylor, Jackie E. Taylor and Kenneth E. Taylor; 2 sisters, Barbara Taylor Bowen and Dorothy Faye Taylor.
He is survived by his wife: Kathie Murphy Taylor
Daughter: Bridgette Taylor Boykin (Robert) and her sons, Mason and Dakota Boykin
Son: Jesse Shawn Taylor (Kelly and her children), and daughters, Madalyn Taylor Morgan (Justin), Lauren Burrows and son, Samuel Taylor
Son: Benjamin Shane Taylor (Davina), daughter, Chesney Taylor and sons, Gavyn Taylor and Brody Terry
2 Brothers: Charles Taylor

2 Sisters: Elaine Brakeman
Shelia Brakeman
Sister-in-law: Brenda Taylor
Great-grandchild: Auslyn Taylor
Sam Taylor, Mason Boykin, Dakota Boykin, Eli Moore, Matthew Moore, Greg Brakeman, Michael Brakeman, Troy Taylor and Roger Taylor will serve as palbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Dougherty, John Barnes, Steve Woods, Ray McNutt, Chuck Goodwin and the “B-57 Bummers”, Earl Brown, Clyde Roberts, Reggie Fix and Bob Herman
