Howard Lee “Bud” Ward

Howard Lee “Bud” Ward, age 69, passed away Thursday night September 17, 2020 at Jackson General Hospital.

Bud was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Willie Owen and Johnnie Mae Mullins Ward. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1969 and married Kathy Carroll in 1971. They made their home in Henderson. He worked as an EMT for M&W Ambulance Service for two years and for Quality Manufacturing before starting with ITT Grinnell, where he worked twenty two years as a press operator and later as a machinist. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for sixteen years. He was Baptist in belief and enjoyed farming and “the country life.”

He is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Kathy Carroll Ward; a son Bud Jason Ward; two daughters, Leslie Birl and husband Steve and Wendy Ward all of Henderson; two grandchildren Brett Birl and Tyler Birl and wife Angela; and a great grandchild Kayleigh Birl. He also is survived by two brothers: Johnny Ward and wife Judy of Ripley, MS and Jimmy Ward and wife Shelia of Henderson; two sisters: Judy Connor and husband Johnny, and Barbie Paulman and husband Jimmy, all of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don Plunk and Ray Plunk.

Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 19th with Anthony Shostrand and Tony Hysmith officiating.

The family will be at the cemetery at 12:30 Saturday to receive friends.
