Houston Anderson Whitt – Obituary

HoustonHouston Anderson Whitt, 88, of Athens, died Monday, September 9, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital. There will be a graveside service Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Doug McCurry officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing. Mr. Whitt was born January 22, 1925, in Limestone County to Martin Luther Whitt and Effie Mae Baird Whitt. He was a business agent for Bricklayers Local 15 for over 30 years. For eight years, and with honorable discharges, he served in the United States Army, United States Coast Guard, and the United States Merchant Marines. He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Whitt; four brothers, Clyde Whitt, Gilbert Whitt, Floyd Whitt and Marvin Whitt.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ehrma Miller Whitt; one son, Andy Whitt and wife, Becky; three daughters, Janice Higginbotham and husband, Doug, Nancy Marshall and husband, Ron, and Joan Whitt; three brothers, Glenn Whitt, Paul Whitt and Don Whitt; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Green, Ross Marshall, Doug Higginbotham, Glenn Whitt, Roger Whitt and Don Miller.
