FLORENCE-Tennessee Valley Historical Society will present four more Historic Florence Trolley Tours on Friday, July 24 and Saturday,July 25. Tours will depart from the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Office & Visitor Center in McFarland Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.on both days.
The Friday tours will be conducted by Lee Freeman who will share his knowledge of the history of the African American community in Florence including churches, schools, businesses and prominent individuals.
Saturday’s tours will be conducted by Dr. David Curott and will visit a variety of historical locations in Florence. This tour is titled “Signs of the Past” and will include sites discussed in his book “Signs of the Past; a Pictorial History of Lauderdale and Colbert
County, Alabama.”
The trolley is air-conditioned with cushioned seats. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Children small enough to sit in their parent;s laps ride free.
