unnamedFLORENCE-The Northwest Alabama Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council gave $4,554.00 to Hibbett Middle School to purchase licenses to a program called Success Maker to be used in the Hibbett Middle School Skills labs.

According to 2016-2017 Hibbett Middle School Principal Cindy Jackson, “many students are showing gaps in their learning and are missing important skills needed to be successful in the new curricula.” The Alabama College and Career Ready Standards are difficult for some students to adapt to. said, “According to standards-based testing, state testing, and performance testing, many students in our school have been identified as ‘at-risk’ students.” The purchase of the Success Maker Program is an effort to help students gain necessary skills to meet standards and progress to the next level.

Northwest Alabama RC&D Council Chairman Roger Hayes said the Council wants every individual child to succeed. This project was supported by the Council and Board so every student has a chance to get what they need to do well.  The Council also expressed their appreciation to Senators Larry Stutts and Tim Melson along with Representatives Johnny Mack Morrow, Marcel Black, Lynn Greer, and Phillip Pettus who represent Lauderdale County well and provide support for the RC&D in the state legislature.
