Elsie Marie Greene, 85, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016. Her visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 12 noon until 2 pm at Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. Her service will immediately follow at 2 pm at the church with Jim Chamblee and Larry Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Greene was one of ten children born to her late parents, Amos Monroe and Mable Landers Pounders. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Eulas P. Henry; brothers, Charlie, Melvin, Howard Ray, Percy, Hershel and Horace Pounders; and sisters, Flora Copeland, Zula Osborn, and Ercia Thigpen.
She was a native of Tuscumbia in the Red Rock Community and a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. She was a minister’s wife and a teacher at Mars Hill Pre-School. She was active in church work all her adult life, including mission trips to the Caribbean and teaching children’s Bible class for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Ellard Greene; son, Tim Henry; daughters, Sheila Gean (Donnie); Beth Sockwell (Stuart); step-son, Tony Greene (Melissa); step-daughter, Debbie Howard (Harold); grandchildren, Andrea Miller (Ryan), Andy Gean (Callie), Bradley Gean, Katelyn Hall (Jake), Caroline Wilson (Jonathan), and Cyndy Sockwell; step-grandchildren, Lori Moore (Dale), Ricky Howard (Trisha), Chrissy Broadway (Butch), and Cindy Hillis; great grandchildren, Maggie, Hannah, Hank, Tatum, Noah, Knox, and Harper; step-great-grandchildren, Jackson, Carson, Daniel, Wesley, Alex, Landon, Lacie, David, and Braydon; and sister-in-law, Polly Pounders.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
