Herman “Sparky” Moore, Jr., age 74, of Decatur, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 at his residence. There will be a Receiving of Family and Friends at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
Mr. Moore was born in Decatur on January 4, 1951 to Herman Tilden Moore, Sr. and Hazel Vivian Sparkman Moore. He later became the owner of Sparky Construction, building many homes throughout Decatur and the surrounding areas, for 30 years. He was a pipefitter, plumber, member of the Local 377 Pipefitter Association, and past President of The Home Builders Association.
Mr. Moore was an avid golfer. He also loved fishing and camping. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, step-grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a dear friend to many. His kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hazel Moore; daughter, Julie Moore; brother, Wade Moore; and sister, Renee Wilson.
Mr. Moore is survived by and leaves cherished memories for his wife, Joan Roberts Moore; children, Brenton Moore, Kelly Southward, Brooke Clemons (Chuck), and Jonathan Ford; step-children, Joseph Marsh IV (Bene), and Adam Marsh (Brittany); grandchildren, Carly Southward, Darian Southward, Alli Lindsey, and Justin Johnson; step-grandchildren, Garret Marsh (Jessica), Joshua Marsh (Molly), and Ella Honeycutt (Will); great-grandchildren, Ryder Johnson, Vivian Marsh, and Naomi Marsh; and one brother, Greg (Joann) Moore.
Shelton Funeral Home was honored and entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
