Henry Harold Short Profile PhotoHenry H. Short, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age 81.

Henry was a man who never knew how to sit still. He was always working, always fixing something, and always finding something that needed to be done. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and giving his best to everything he did.

He dedicated many years of his life to the Memphis Fire Department, serving his community with hard work and dedication. When he wasn’t working, you could often find him outdoors doing what he loved most – hunting, fishing, and enjoying the peace and freedom of being outside.

Henry split his time between Cordova, TN and McKenzie, TN, making memories in both places and enjoying the people and surroundings that became part of his life.

One of the most special bonds in Henry’s life was the relationship he shared with his granddaughter, Sierra Short. Sierra was incredibly important to her Pawpa, and the love between them was something truly special. She loved her Pawpa deeply and he held a very special place in his heart for her. Their bond was filled with love, memories, and a connection that will never be forgotten. Sierra will carry that love for her Pawpa with her for the rest of her life, and the memories they made together will remain a precious part of her heart.

To those who knew Henry, he was much more than a hardworking man who was always on the go. He was a father, a Pawpa, and a man who became an important part of the lives of the people who loved him. His children and grandchildren will carry pieces of him with them – the lessons he taught, the memories he made, and the love he gave.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Regina K. Short; daughter, Felecia Short; grandchildren, Sierra Short, Montana Smith, Logan Short, Landen Smith, and Ledger Smith; and son-in-law, Curtis Smith. He is also survived by his children, Debbie Steele and Joey Short.

A funeral to celebrate Henry’s life will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  The burial will be held 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers to serve: Zaid Alsalous, Felecia Short, Logan Short, Sierra Short, Curtis Smith, Landen Smith, and Montana Smith.
