SHEFFIELD – Helen Keller Hospital is on lockdown at this hour in response to a threat against a patient there. In accordance to their emergency plans, all entrances are posted by security guards. The only access to the facility is through the Emergency Department entrance. All employees must show proper identification and visitors must provide photo ID and give their reason for entering the hospital.
The patient who received the threat has not been identified. According to acting Sheffield Police Chief, Dewey King, the incident involves a Muscle Shoals couple. King told The Quad-Cities Daily that it appears that the situation is under control, and no arrests are pending.
Hospital spokesperson, Christa Martin, clarified our story, “We are on lockdown until further notice.” She said that the public will be notified once the lockdown is lifted.
