Hazelle Marie McCulloch Alvis was born October 21, 1930, in Lawrence County and died at Springhill Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 4, 2014. Her parents were William Pervin and Paralee Wood McCulloch. She was the fourth child in a family of ten. Her passions were gardening and flowers. She was a Baptist.
Hazelle is preceded in death by her husband from Cullman, Milton Kilgore Alvis; one son, James M. Alvis of Decatur; her brothers, Eugene, William and Richard; her sisters, Beatrice and Francis.
She is survived by her son, John Alvis of Brownsville, Texas; daughters, Mary Kaye Birchler of Lonoke; Janie Miller, Joyce Herrington and Linda Morris, all from the greater Little Rock area. She has 48 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny McCulloch of Georgia and Lyndon McCulloch of Florida; and two sisters, Ruby Lee McCulloch of Tennessee and Barbara Gail Phillips of Alabama.
Family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
