Hazel Florence McCaghren Anderson, 93, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Anderson was born to John McCaghren and Bessie May McCaghren in Lawrence County, Alabama on Dec. 17, 1922.
Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walton H. “Buddy” Anderson; her parents; her brother, Hollis McCaghren; children, Bobby Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson Ashwander, and Ned Anderson; and grandson, Andy Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Lynne Anderson Mazur (Gerard), of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; sister, Sarah Archer, of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Andrew “Skip” Sundgaard (Michelle), of Dayton, Ohio, Sarah Sundgaard, Mary Mazur, Molly Mazur, and Steven Mazur, all of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Jack Anderson, Mandy Dolly, Dr. Charles Ashwander, Lindy Ashwander, Ray Ashwander Jr., all of Decatur, Alabama, Walton Ashwander, of Hartselle, Alabama, David Anderson and Thomas Anderson, of Athens, Alabama; 17 great- grandchildren; her nephews, George R. Archer Jr., John Archer, and David McCaghren (Debra); her special friends , Steve, Traci and Hannah Ridaught and Shane Brock.
Private graveside services will be held today, March 19, 2016, at Decatur City Cemetery with David Anderson and Burt Anderson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Richard Archer, John Archer, David McCaghren, Joey Barber, Ben Anderson, and Steve Ridaught.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a school or church of your choice.
