Hattie Ophelia Hamilton – Obituary

Hattie Ophelia Hamilton, 85, of Dallas, Texas passed away July 26, 2017.
Visitation will be held at Limestone Chapel in Athens, Alabama on Tuesday August 1, 2017 at 10:00am to 12:00pm. Funeral services will follow visitation; with the funeral following the services at Gordon Family Cemetery.
Ophelia was born to Clarence and Effie Gordon on March 3, 1932. She was one of eight children. She attended East Limestone High School where she performed in the Glee Club. She graduated in 1950. Ophelia lived her last fifty years in Dallas, Texas but always considered Alabama home. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Dallas where she performed in the choir. She enjoyed her church, spending time with family, gardening, and watching her favorite show ‘The Golden Girls’.
Ophelia is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Effie Gordon; four brothers Buddy, Charles, Lynn and Van Gordon; and two sisters Anna Frances Black and Liz Meadows.
Ophelia is survived by her sister Wanda Guthrie; her three daughters Devona (Charles) Tiner, Fran (Hector) Alvarez and Beverly Nielsen; six grandchildren Christopher Clark, Leslie Crisp, Tony Alvarez, Jeremy Clark, Beverleigh (Brian) Botta and Patricia Sires; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grand children; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Our wonderful mother is now in our Lord and Savior’s arms.
