Harold E. Stubbs – Obituary

Harold E. Stubbs, 84, passed away peacefully after a long illness with Parkinson’s disease at Crestwood Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Monday January 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Albert Stubbs, and his siblings Albert Stubbs, Kathryn Wood, and Vance Stubbs. He was a loving husband to his cherished wife of 60 years, Grace Morris. He was father to Sheryl Stubbs of Huntsville; Cameron Stubbs and wife Beth of Marietta, GA; Dawn Enright and husband Brian of Kennesaw, GA. He was known as grandfather to John, Mattie, and Sarah Grace of Marietta GA and Patrick and Maggie Enright of Kennesaw, GA.

Born in Birmingham, AL, Hal went on to graduate from Hewitt-Trussville High School. He then attended Jacksonville State University where he got his undergraduate degree in Math and Physics. Hal went on to earn a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Alabama. During his time in the military, he attended the Command and General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Hal was a proud Army veteran of 27 years. He was awarded numerous medals and received many honors including being named by the Secretary of the Army as the Outstanding Project Manager of the year in 1980. During his military career he had overseas tours that included Korea, Vietnam, and the Marshall Islands. After retirement from the Army, Colonel Stubbs worked for Teledyne Brown Engineering as a program manager. He loved life, his family and friends. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life including scuba diving, golf, racquetball, and playing cards with his friends from Mayfair Church of Christ. Hal was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in Hal’s name.
