Funeral services for Harlan Thompson, 80, will be Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hale and Rev. Chuck Oden officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson died on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Morgan County to William Huey Thompson and Zona Roan Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a carpenter for Brasfield and Gorrie in Birmingham, Alabama prior to his retirement. He was a radio controlled airplane enthusiast and enjoyed reading western novels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Zona Thompson; two sisters; four brothers; and his first wife and mother of four children, Margaret Kyker Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Thompson; five sons, Tony Thompson (JoAnn), Ronald Thompson, Donald Thompson (Charlotte), Mark Roberts, and Jason Roberts (Sarah); three daughters, Shirley Funk (Mike), Elizabeth Bradford (David), and Kathy Jones (Ken); two brothers, Ronnie Thompson (Suzanne) and Michael Thompson (Deborah); two sisters, Rebecca Shelton (Huey) and Brenda Norman; 15 grandchildren, Jeremy Bradford (Angie), Amy Blaylock (Michael), Ashley Allen (Jimmy), Amanda Thompson, Holley Askin (Fletcher), Joshua Thompson (Tae), Daniel Thompson (Courtney), Casey Fields, Jonathan Thompson, Michael Gorham (Kimberly), Hillary Thompson, Stephen Gorham (Jodi), Grayce Thompson, Eleanor Roberts, and Catherine Roberts; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Thompson, Michael Gorham, Stephen Gorham, Jeremy Bradford, Joshua Thompson, and Jonathan Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Lawrence, Jimmy Allen, Leonard Woodby, and Mike Funk Jr.
