Born William Harold Wayne Posey on Aug. 1, 1938, in Colbert County Alabama, Wayne’s early years were spent with his sister, Paulette, on the family farm in Iuka, Mississippi. His family was filled with gospel quartet singers, and Wayne grew to love music and the outdoors. The family later moved to Tuscumbia, Alabama, where Wayne attended Deshler High School and graduated as class valedictorian in 1957. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Auburn University in 1961 with honors. After college, he began a long and successful business career culminating as CEO of two publically traded health care organizations. Wayne retired to his ranch where he could embrace his love of the outdoors; enjoying life through visits from his grandchildren, raising cattle, hunting and fishing.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Travis William Posey, and his mother, Johnnie Hamm Posey. Survivors include children, Angela Posey Destro and husband, William, Jeff Posey and Matt Posey and wife, Stacy; grandchildren, Travis and Brittany Destro, Leigh Ann and Carter Posey and Georgia, Hogan and Maggie Posey, all of Forth Worth; sister, Paulette Posey Stroupe and husband, Jerry; and nieces, Keely Stroupe and Jennifer Stroupe, all of Nashville, Tennessee.
