Mr. Grady Smith “Coot”, born Nov. 12, 1939, in Florence, Ala., departed this life on May 18, 2013, at ECM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Grady and Katie Reeder Smith; grandson, Master El’Donta Johnson. He was a member of Armstead Chapel CME Church, a 1959 graduate of Burrell-Slater High School, served in the U.S. Air Force, former Florence Police officer and retired from TVA.
Grady loved Auburn sports.
His memories remain with wife, Mrs. Ellanor G. Smith; children, Ken, Kyler (Marsha), Karen (Sam), Nick, Tiffany, Rosetta (Marquis); 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Mr. Charles (Linda) Smith.
Mr. Smith will be available for viewing Friday, May 24, from 1-7 p.m. at Saints Funeral Home of Sheffield. Mr. Smith’s funeral service will be Saturday, May 25, at Armstead CME Church. His body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. for viewing with service to follow at noon. The Rev. Charles Johnson is officiating. Saints Funeral Home is directing.
