Gloria Dean Blaxton, age 89, formerly of Hartselle, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at her residence in Blountsville, Alabama.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Wesley Methodist Church in Decatur, Alabama with Bro. Tyler Cantrell and Bro. Marvin McCormick officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Blaxton was born in Decatur, Alabama on September 24, 1935 to Roy Tucker, Sr. and Ruby Stewart Norris. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama for many years. She held Bachelor Degrees in both Nursing and Accounting. She was a member of the Church at Stone River in Decatur, Alabama.
Mrs. Blaxton was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone… her kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Although we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her loved ones in God’s embrace of eternal peace.
Mrs. Blaxton was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay H. Blaxton; brother, Roy Tucker, Jr.; and sister, Gertha Faye McCormick.
She is survived by her son, David Blaxton; daughter, Deborah Honaker; four grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Honaker; Laura Michelle “Micki” Honaker; Alanna (Hunter) Cunningham; David “Dawson” (McKenzie) Blaxton; 6 great-grandchildren, Rhys Cunningham; Colt Griffin; Etta Cunningham; Declyn Honaker; Rylinn Honaker; Kadyn Honaker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
