Glenda Oakes Cavender, 86, of Lacey’s Spring, passed away at Diversicare of Arab on April 14, 2025. Glenda was born in Morgan County, Alabama on February 15, 1939 to James and Veatrice Mills Oakes.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Cavender; sons, Larry Cavender (Rhonda), Keith Cavender (Janet), and Jeff Cavender (Susan); grandchildren, Josh Cavender, Zack Cavender (Jessica), Kyle Cavender (Emily), Katie Stanley (Ernesto), Anna Huffman, and Daniel Jones; and great-grandchildren, Case Cavender, Camille Cavender, Colette Cavender, Willow Stanley, and Ivey Stanley. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Veatrice Oakes, and brothers, Billy Oakes and Clark Oakes. She and Kenneth had just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Glenda was a faithful member of Weatherly Heights Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral immediately following in the chapel with Mike McLemore officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
