Geralda Mae Gates, 76 of Ardmore, Tennessee died on Monday, April 18, 2016, at her home.
Born Friday, October 20, 1939 in Ardmore, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James Bunyon Smith and the late Mary Elizabeth Smith Fogg. She was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area and a member of Ardmore First Methodist Church. She loved flowers, shopping, jewelry and eating out. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-father: Smith Fogg, Daughter: Tambra Jane Graviett, four brothers: James Terrell Smith, Jerry Ladon Smith, Jimmy Ross Smith and Douglas Smith, and a sister: Reba Jane Smith.
Surviving are her husband: Howard “Hank” Gates of Ardmore, TN, son, Howard Kelvin (Teresa) Gates of Ardmore, TN, sister, Brenda Clark of Athens, AL, five granddaughters: Stephanie Smith, Lindsay Price, Jena Landcaster, Meghan Gates, and Emily Gates, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Ardmore First United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Eubanks and Rev. Peter Van Eyes officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Ardmore First United Methodist Church or to Carris Hospice.
