Gerald Raymond Green, age 80, of Kennedy, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Fayette Medical Center after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Drayton Green, his father, Cornelius Allison Green and his wife, Patricia Elaine Foster Green.
Services for Gerald Green will take place Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Funeral Home, at 11:30 a.m, Brother Chris McCool officiating. Public visitation from 10:30-11:30 will precede the funeral. A graveside service for family will follow at Meadow Branch Church Cemetery in Kennedy, Alabama. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
The pallbearers will be Cade Harris, Steve Greene, Kevin Greene, Jax Ramsey, Todd Ramsey and Brandon Young.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Foster, Scott Foster, Michael Freeman, Bill Freeman and Robbie Lawson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristie Green Ramsey (Todd) and Kimberly Green Young (Brandon), as well as six grandchildren: Cade Harris (Thekla), Jackson Ramsey, Tessa Ramsey, Taylor Kate Young, Lilly Young, and Audrey Young.
Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Gerald Green moved to Alabama in 1972. It was there he met the love of his life, his wife Elaine, to whom he was married for thirty-four years. He worked for Georgia Pacific until his retirement. In addition, Gerald Green was a proud Veteran, a member of the Army National Guard who served in Saudi Arabia in 1990 during Operation Desert Storm. Above all, Gerald Green was a devoted Christian and family man who took great joy in being involved in the lives of his two daughters and his six grandchildren. He was gentle, patient man of stellar worth who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cemetery Fund at Meadow Branch Baptist Church.
