Steve JohnsonGeorge Stephen “Steve” Johnson, 64, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of James and Delores Featherston, born on October 9, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a proud veteran who served in the 155th Armored Brigade of the Army National Guard.

Steve’s professional career was spent at Mid-South Signs. Steve’s zest for life was evident in his love for adventure and the outdoors, he loved deer hunting, riding his motorcycles, and making people laugh.

Steve had the innate ability to make everyone feel special and accepted. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart and good-natured teasing.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Johnson of Senatobia; one daughter, Stephanie Johnson of Pontotoc; two sisters, Abby Paine and her husband, Larry, of Memphis, Tennessee, and Susie Ray and her husband, Gary, of Tupelo; one brother, Jimmy Featherston and his wife, Jodi, of Byron, Georgia; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his big brother, Rudy Johnson.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo with stories shared by his sister, Abby Paine and his best friend, Ronnie Howell. The family will accept friends at 1 p.m. Saturday until service.
