A funeral service for George Robert “Bob” Farmer, Sr., 86, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Farris and Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11 am until 12 pm on Saturday at Higgins. A graveside service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, MO.
Bob was born on August 4, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Basil Lee and Mildred Cox Farmer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His career as a procurement manager with McDonnell Douglas and Boeing reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.
A devoted Christian, Bob loved the Lord and lived his faith through service. He actively sought opportunities to help others, always striving to be a light in the lives of those around him. His passion for sharing God’s love extended beyond his community, as he faithfully supported missionary efforts in Ukraine and Africa. His commitment to spreading the Gospel led him on a mission trip to Ukraine, where he witnessed firsthand the power of faith and service.
Bob had a deep love for travel and adventure, taking his family on countless road trips with their pop-up camper to explore National Parks across the country. He was a man of kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, always offering wisdom and unwavering support to those he loved. His devotion to his family was evident in the strong bonds he nurtured, which remained steadfast despite any distance.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Joyce Hansard Farmer; his sons, George Robert Farmer, Jr. (Garalyn) and Scott David Farmer (Nancy Flavin); his cherished grandchildren, Molly Anne Farmer (Mark Marpaung), Benjamin Robert Farmer (Heyli), and Brendan Joseph Farmer (Grace); his great-grandchildren, Liam Robert Farmer and Beyli Garalyn Farmer; and his bonus children Paul Stanbrough and Sharon Maxwell and their families.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce LaVerne Sifford Farmer, and his brother, Larry Dean Farmer.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will endure.
