George Montgomery – Obituary

Mr. George Montgomery, 67, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at North MS Medical Center following an extended illness. As a lifelong resident of the Tupelo area, he was born November 3, 1949 to Robert Lee Montgomery and Hattie Mae Mayfield Montgomery. He worked many years in the SPD department employed by North MS Medical Center. He also worked at Truck Center and the Daily Journal. His hobbies included fishing, hunting in his younger years, playing the guitar and singing. George was a member of God’s House of Prayer.
A service celebrating his life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at God’s House of Prayer with Pastor James Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon to service time at the church. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to assist the family at this time. Survivors include his five daughters, Delphia Hall, Sonja Carruthers (Kelvin), Quozetta Montgomery, all of Chesterville, Tonya Montgomery of Tupelo, and Beatrice Montgomery of Chesterville; one son, Kevin Montgomery (Shelia) of Tupelo; two brothers, T.C. Montgomery (Dorothy) and Robert Montgomery (Mary); three sisters, Marie “Kate” Wheeler, Earlene “Moochie” Tatum (James), and Mable Lipsey; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Sarah McCoy of Redhill. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, Joe, and Lawrence Montgomery.
