George Droke Profile Photo George Edward Droke, passed away January 27, 2025, from complications of a stroke.

He was born September 29, 1943, in Finger, Tennessee. He made his home in Finger and lived there his whole life. He was the son of the late James “Jim” Edward Droke and Elizabeth Stovall Droke, all who lived in the Finger community their whole lives. He was graduate of McNairy High school. George worked at Jarvis Auto Parts Factory in Bolivar, Tennessee before working at Owen’s Corning Fiberglass in Jackson, Tennessee as a lab technician until the plant closed. Afterwards he worked building homes around the Henderson and Chester County area. He also worked for Chester County Nursing Home as a maintenance technician several years. He enjoyed his time in and around the Finger and Henderson community.

He spent time in the Tennessee National Guard in Henderson serving honorably rising to the rank of Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge. In 1971 the Finger community petition for him to be a sheriff’s deputy for Finger.

In his later years he enjoyed working on the family farm and watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow. He is survived by his only son, Russell Droke, and daughter-in-law, Esperanza Droke, from Bartlett, Tennessee; their 3 children, Carol Tomlinson (Ryan) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Amanda Droke of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Lance Droke of Bartlett, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 1st at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue. Burial will follow at Finger Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time on Saturday.
