Mrs. Geneva Hodges Killian Kilgore
October 3, 1935 – September 6, 2025
Our loving momma (age 89) passed away quietly Saturday morning, September 6, 2025. She was born in the Woodville, Alabama area and is preceded in death by her father Wailon Milbourn Hodges, mother Annie Hodges (nee Mashburn), step-mother Janie Vanilla Hodges (nee Womack), brother Ollie Wain Hodges, brother Billy Joe Hodges, sister Mary Jane Beeman (nee Hodges). She is survived by two brothers Gordon Hodges and Jackie Hodges (Janice).
After 39 years of marriage, Geneva was preceded in death by her first husband James Daniel Killian in 1994. Geneva is survived by her three children Jim Killian (Tammy) of Section, AL, Reneé Killian-Zeiger (Dennis) of Greenville, SC, and David Killian of Mills River, NC. Three grandchildren Josh Killian (Katlyn), Chris Killian (Nicole) and Cassie Killian-Woods (Jake) as well as four great-grandchildren Jude, John, Dex and Oliver.
After almost 23 years as a widow, she married Harold (Harry) Kilgore who preceded her in death in 2022.
Geneva loved her children and extended family deeply. She loved cooking and working in her yard and was twice awarded Yard of the Month. She was a devoted member of Scottsboro Free Holiness Church and loved serving and helping others and never asked for anything in return.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home. A Graveside Service and Burial will follow in the Sanders Mill Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pruitt Hospice 301 Halton Rd, Greenville, SC 29607 in memory of Geneva Hodges Killian Kilgore.
