Mr. General “Gene” Burean Bearden, age 86, of Arab the Ruth community, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
Mr. Bearden was born August 1, 1933 to R.A. Bearden & Iner Underwood Bearden in Etowah County, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later worked at NASA. Mr. Bearden was married to the late Patricia “Pat” Faye Gann Bearden who passed in 2009. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Mr. Bearden loved participating in church activities and was a member of Liberty Church in Arab.
Mr. Bearden is survived by his son, Rickey Dale Bearden (Brenda); daughter, Delora Lynna Bennick (Mark), Susan B. McKee (Michael); 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne Bearden (Loretta); sisters, Frances Entrekin, Georgia Morris (Joe). Preceded in death by his parents, R.A. Bearden & Iner Underwood Bearden; wife, Patricia “Pat” Faye Gann Bearden.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Keith Hodges, officiating. Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will include; David Throesch, Ian Keel, Jason Murphy, Joseph Dabbs, Mark Bennick & Scott Gann.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be contributed to: Liberty Church Arab, P.O. Box 2274, Arab, Al. 35016.
