Gene Raymond “Big Ed” Jackson – Obituary

geneGene Raymond “Big Ed” Jackson, 78, a native of Lauderdale County, passed away July 8, 2014 at E.C.M. Hospital after an extended illness. He was a member and elder of Glendale Church of Christ, served in the National Guard, was a baseball coach, and was one of the first volunteers at the Central Fire Department. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors especially gardening and fishing and loved being on his tractor.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Glendale Church of Christ with Joel Caudle and Doug Jackson officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, James and Blanche Jackson; brother, Gerald D. Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie McDonald Jackson; sons, Phillip Jackson (Donna) of Florence, Terry Jackson (Deahna) of Tuscumbia; daughters, Donna Taylor (Andy), Regenia Dean (Wayne) all of Florence; brothers, Glendon Jackson (Nancy), Lendon Jackson (Willie Mae); special brother-in-law, Jamie McDonald; special sister-in-law, Charlotte Jackson Rogers; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Taylor, Jay Jay Vinson, Jordan Taylor, Casey Johnson, Clint Johnson, Corey Faires, Tyler Faires, and Brian Fulmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Haddock, Claude Wood, and Jimmy McAdams.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Richards, Dr. Williams, and Alacare Home Health.
