Gene Ray Hester, 80, of Tuscumbia, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens, with Brother Reggie Bruce officiating.
Mr. Hester was a native of Franklin County, retired from Ford Motor Co. and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Perlie Goins Hester and parents, Dessie Howard Hester and O. G. Hester.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Waldrep; son, Danny Hester (Sherri); grandchildren, Cara Bugg (Kevin), Kyle Waldrep (Maria), Cody Hester (Katie), Caleb Hester; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Amelia Bugg, Lorelei and Aubree Waldrep; sister, Betty Whitaker.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Bugg, Thomas Coburn and Jeremy Coburn.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the 2nd floor staff at Helen Keller and J. W. Sommer Rehab.
In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
