Gary Thompson of Huntsville, Alabama passed on Saturday April 21st 2018.
Gary Thompson was a memorable man. He was known around town for his iconic mustache, mustard yellow Land Cruiser, big personality and bigger heart. He was a world traveler, a coach, a great husband, a great father, and the best Pop. He loved his family and friends deeply and made a habit out of always being there to lend a helping hand. He filled a room with his booming voice and infectious sense of humor. He never shied away from an opportunity to tell a story or influence a life.
He was all these things and more, but most of all he loved his Heavenly Father. He was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and used every breath he had to remind us all of the gospel and his Savior, Jesus Christ. We have no doubt that he has been made whole again.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anne Thompson; children Anna Parks (William) and Caroline Eiermann (Joey); parents, Richard and Ruth Thompson; brother, Bruce Thompson (Jacquie); grandchildren, Elizabeth Wren Parks, Wheeler McLeod Parks, and Sarah Katherine Parks.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday April 26th at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 1-3pm with a Celebration of Life to begin at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Hospice Family Care inpatient hospice fund at 801 Clinton Avenue East, Huntsville, Alabama 35801.
